LSAT Preptest 104 explanations

RC Question 19 Explanation

DISCUSSION: By mentioning honeybees, the author has shown that it’s possible to have a system that tracks outward displacement.

___________

  1. Wha? The fact about honeybees shows that some species can home, at short distances. But it;s likely that most species can’t. That’s why homing pigeons are special.
  2. CORRECT. The fact about honeybees shows that this theory is at least possible, and therefore we can’t eliminate it offhand.
  3. On the contrary, the fact that honeybees can track outward displacement suggests pigeons might be able to do the same.
  4. The author hasn’t mentioned any techniques at this point. They’re only mentioned in paragraphs 2-4.
  5. This fact about honeybees only proves that the explanation is possible. We need more evidence to know that it’s correct.

Also, the author spends the whole second paragraph suggesting that the theory is wrong.
