DISCUSSION: Papi thinks the pigeons find their way home using a “map sense” (lines 36-37).

The author thinks that homing pigeon’s probably do use a map sense (lines 34-36), even if we don’t know how the map sense works.

  1. This is Papi’s theory. In the fourth paragraph, the author attacks this idea.
  2. Honeybees track their displacement. They don’t use a map sense (lines 9-11).
  3. CORRECT. See lines 34-37, and discussion above.
  4. Lines 51-58 show that the author thinks Papi’s experiments were poorly conducted.
  5. In line 46, when the author says those experiments showed a problem with “the hypothesis”, the author is referring to Papi’s hypothesis.
