LSAT 132 | Section 2 | Logical Reasoning: Q10

LSAT Preptest 132 explanations

LR Question 10 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: Gigantic passenger planes currently being developed…

QUESTION TYPE: Identify the Conclusion

CONCLUSION: The additional airplane space will be used for seating.

REASONING: We’re making new, larger passenger planes which will have extra space. And we’ll soon have more air passengers. Airports won’t able to handle the number of normal sized jets required to carry those passengers.

ANALYSIS: The word “however” almost always indicates a conclusion. This argument has the following structure:

  1. Fact.
  2. Conclusion, arguing fact is wrong.
  3. Evidence supporting the conclusion.

___________

  1. This is something that the argument argues will not happen.
  2. CORRECT. The word “however” indicates this is the conclusion.
  3. This is evidence that supports the conclusion. If there are more passengers, the extra space in planes will probably be used for seats.
  4. This is evidence to support the conclusion. We can’t accommodate extra passengers by flying more planes. Each plane will need more seats.
  5. This isn’t even in the stimulus. We have no idea if this is true. It’s certainly not the conclusion.

Recap: The question begins with “Gigantic passenger planes currently being developed”. It is a Identify the Conclusion question. To practice more Identify the Conclusion questions, have a look at the LSAT Questions by Type page.

It seems that you are mixing questions here. “Europa, a moon of Jupiter,” question 10 in section 2 has nothing to do with planes in that question.
