LSAT Preptest 142 explanations

RC Question 17 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The two passages don’t overlap much. Passage B doesn’t talk about justice or punishment.

Three wrong answers mention jail. They’re all wrong for the same reason: Passage B doesn’t mention punishment.

The two passages only overlap in that they both talk about neuroscience and its implications for free will. See lines 1-3, 9-14 and lines 25-29.

___________

  1. Passage B doesn’t discuss punishment or jail.
  2. CORRECT. See the lines quoted above.
  3. Passage B doesn’t discuss punishment or jail.
  4. Passage B doesn’t discuss punishment or jail.
  5. Passage A doesn’t discuss constraints on actions. Outside physical force as a cause for our actions was only discussed in passage B, line 44.
