LSAT 142 | Section 3 | Reading Comprehension: Q18

LSAT Preptest 142 explanations

RC Question 18 Explanation

DISCUSSION: To be clear, you’re looking for something that’s in passage B, and not in passage A. So you can eliminate an answer if it fails to meet either condition.

So anything that’s in passage A can’t be the right answer.

___________

  1. CORRECT. Only passage B mentions mental disorder. See lines 39 and 55.
  2. Line 10 in passage A mentions free choice.
  3. Lines 2-4 in passage A mentioned the operations of the brain causing behavior: that’s causality.
  4. Lines 10-11 in passage A mention the possibility of deluding yourself.
  5. Passage B doesn’t mention moral responsibility. Passage A mentions moral choice, but that’s a different concept.

Uhmmm, Passage A does mention causality. Lines 2-4 state “nothing causes your behavior other than the operations of your brain.” Passage A also mentions self-delusion. See lines 10-11, which state, “may really be deluding themselves.”
