LR Question 9 Explanation

QUESTION TEXT: A diet whose protein comes from fish is much…

QUESTION TYPE: Parallel Reasoning

CONCLUSION: We shouldn’t recommend that everyone eat fish.

REASONING: It’s healthier to eat fish. But if everyone eats fish, then fish would go extinct and no one could eat fish.

ANALYSIS: On parallel reasoning questions, look for structure.

Here, the structure is that we shouldn’t that recommend everyone do something, because then that thing would be destroyed. No one could do it.

___________

  1. The conclusion is the same, but the reasons are different. There’s no vitamin E shortage.
  2. The conclusion is different. This should have said that we should avoid high cigarette taxes because they will destroy smoking.
  3. CORRECT. Here we go. Something is good for individuals, but if everyone did it, then no one could.
  4. The conclusion is different. The conclusion has to say that not everyone should do something.
  5. Totally wrong. This just says there is uncertainty about what to do. The stimulus had a clear recommendation.
