LSAT 135 | Section 3 | Reading Comprehension: Q20

LSAT Preptest 135 explanations

RC Question 20 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The passages describes how a dutch experiment may help restore farmland. The researchers grew diverse plants, and spread diverse microorganisms in the soil.

___________

  1. CORRECT. This covers all paragraphs. Paragraph 1 talks about rehab. Paragraph 2 talks about how surface diversity helps recovery. Paragraph 3 talks about how microorganisms under the soil can help recovery.
  2. This is probably true, but the main point of the passage is to describe a dutch study that can speed up the restoration process.
  3. The passage never said if we should change how we use farmland. Paragraphs 2 and 3 are mainly about a dutch study that will help speed up farmland recovery.
  4. This is only mentioned in lines 15-17. It’s not even necessarily true. This is just something generally believed.
  5. This mixes together two unrelated concepts. Agricultural overproduction refers to the total amount of food we produce. It does not refer to how intensely we farm individual plots of land.

Farming would still produce weeds and disease organisms even if Europe produced exactly as much food as we required (no overproduction).
