LSAT 136 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q13

LSAT Preptest 136 explanations

RC Question 13 Explanation

DISCUSSION: I personally find this question infuriating. It depends on your ability to check both passage for very specific details.

There’s no way to be sure about this type of question without searching the passages for the answer choice that is referenced in both.

Several wrong answers mention things that simply did not appear in the passage. Best to first check answers that you’re pretty sure you remember appearing at least somewhere.

___________

  1. Only passage B mentions ‘holistic’ (line 44).
  2. A misleading answer. Neither passage mentions databases. This is just a word you might associate with fingerprints.
  3. CORRECT. See lines 14-15 and lines 39-41.
  4. Neither passage mentions statistics about rare fingerprint characteristics.
  5. The passage doesn’t even contain the word ‘computer’. This answer is completely off-base. It’s designed to play on your mental association of fingerprints with CSI-like techniques.
