LSAT Preptest 155 explanations

RC Question 1 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The main point is the author’s opinion on screening early nonfiction films together: he thinks it’s a bad idea since the original intention isn’t to show them together.

___________

  1. CORRECT. The passage’s main idea is that showing early nonfiction films together goes against the film’s original intentions and thus is a bad idea.
  2. Exhibiting paintings was brought up in the first paragraph as an analogy, and isn’t the passage’s main point.
  3. We’re not concerned with whether or not the films received the critical recognition they deserve.
  4. The artistic goals of early nonfiction films vs. contemporary cinema aren’t addressed.
  5. Authentic restorations are mentioned in the last paragraph when the author criticizes the inauthentic way films are exhibited. But it isn’t the main point.
