LSAT 137 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q15

LSAT Preptest 137 explanations

RC Question 15 Explanation

DISCUSSION: You need to find something mentioned in both passages. Many wrong answers talk about things that only one passage mentions.

___________

  1. Only passage A deals with this.
  2. Passage A seems to assume that all invasive species are by definition bad.
  3. Passage B doesn’t even seem to think a protective approach is needed.
  4. CORRECT. Passage A argues the ecosystems are weakened. Passage B argues that they simply change.
  5. Passage A mentions this in the third sentence  of paragraph 1, but Passage B doesn’t say how species can spread to new habitats.

Hello, I know answer choice E is wrong, but just out of curiousity, wouldn’t passage A saying “ecologists realize that when humans introduce new species into existing ecosystem” (lines 8-9) actually be considered an idea of how invasive species arrive in the new ecosystems? I know passage B doesn’t mention anything so eliminated this answer primarily based on that.

Oh, you’re right, that is a way: human introduction. I edited the explanation, thanks.
