LSAT 137 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q18

LSAT Preptest 137 explanations

RC Question 18 Explanation

DISCUSSION: Passage B’s point is that change in an ecosystem isn’t necessarily bad, even if the change comes from outside influences.

___________

  1. This isn’t it. In this case, there is an actual loss: you have one less piece of clothing. Yet ecosystems often have more species when species invade.
  2. CORRECT. This is pretty similar. An outside influence produces change, but the change isn’t necessarily bad.
  3. Passage B didn’t say that invasive species produce ‘progress’ or that species invasion is necessary. Passage B just claimed invasion isn’t necessarily bad.
  4. This is very narrow. It’s like saying that ecosystems can never change from within. Passage B’s point was just that outside change isn’t necessarily bad.
  5. This would be like saying that humans can produce species invasion but species invasion also happens on it’s own. That’s not what passage B was talking about.
