LSAT 107 | Section 2 | Reading Comprehension: Q17

LSAT Preptest 107 explanations

RC Question 17 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The primary purpose and main idea are similar. The previous question asked us what the point of the passage was. This asks us what the passage is telling us.

___________

  1. This is supported by Bohringer’s findings (lines 18-20), but the main idea is broader. The platypus uses its bill to hunt underwater.
  2. CORRECT. Lines 3-6 say that the platypus uses its bill to find prey. The rest of passage explains this new discovery using two scientists’ studies.
  3. This ignores Scheich’s study.
  4. Lines 1-3 says that scientists have known this for a long time.
  5. Only Scheich has concluded this, not all biologists. And Scheich thinks that everything the platypus hunts must make such fields. This also ignores the rest of the passage.
