LSAT Preptest 112 explanations

RC Question 16 Explanation

DISCUSSION: This is from lines 1-6. The point was that we once thought these were the only hormones that influenced behavior. We now realize steroid and peptide hormones also influence behavior.

___________

  1. There’s no mention of the history of that research. There are no dates, scientists or important discoveries mentioned.
  2. Not at all! The passage makes clear that hormones influence behavior in more ways than we realized.
  3. CORRECT. Most earlier research focussed on reproductive hormones. This gives context; it shows that the new research is broader.
  4. The passage doesn’t say the old ideas about reproductive hormones were wrong. It’s just we now know there are other types of hormones that also influence behavior.
  5. Which procedures are described? And which ‘recent’ research is mentioned? None of this happens. (No one said the research on reproductive hormones was recent.)
