LSAT 145 | Section 3 | Reading Comprehension: Q24

LSAT Preptest 145 explanations

RC Question 24 Explanation

DISCUSSION: This question says the passage has enough info to answer one of the questions. So, the passage will literally give you an answer to the question included in the correct answer.

If you can’t find the answer in the passage, you’re likely to make a mistake. It’s not that hard to learn to remember roughly where information is, and to quickly scan to find it and confirm an answer.

If you are slow at scanning the passage for info, practice! This can be drilled.

It’s hard to “explain” the wrong answers, because the only real explanation is that they aren’t in the passage.

___________

  1. The passage never mentions any specific African nations.
  2. The passage never mentions specific languages. Only line 54 mentions language.
  3. The passage doesn’t say which countries the U.S. tried to extend its political power to in the 19th century. (Only lines 39-43 discuss colonial empires.)
  4. The passage didn’t specify why the question of African-American citizenship was unresolved. Lines 10-14 discuss the 14th amendment.
  5. CORRECT. See lines 18-21. Some black leaders wanted citizenship, others called for emigration to a new homeland.
