DISCUSSION: Genetic mutations are in paragraph three. It’s a good idea to go back and skim that paragraph before looking at the answers. Shouldn’t take more than 5-10 seconds.
The point of doing this is to have all the information about genetic mutations fresh at hand. This lets you quickly eliminate nonsense answers.
___________
- The author never said how many mutations are passed down.
- This just combines paragraph 3 and paragraph 4 in a weird way. The author never said there’s a link between mass extinctions and genetic mutations.
- The author never mentions whether mutations change behavior or appearance.
- CORRECT. Lines 27-28 say this directly. (“Neither category” means most mutations aren’t helpful or harmful for reproduction.)
- Large and small species are an idea from paragraph 4, which deals with mass extinctions. The author never mentioned large and small in relation to mutations.
