LSAT Preptest 115 explanations

RC Question 28 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The two sides in the analogy have no common ground. They can only hope to communicate if they examine the holy books upon which they base their arguments.

They are discussing the same thing (the origin of the universe), but using different evidence.

In the wrong answers, the debaters tend to use the same evidence.

___________

  1. It sounds like the investigators are speaking the same language. It’s normal to have conflicting physical evidence. Debates happen, but the participants understand each other.
  2. The jurors should be able to understand each other. Humans are used to judging whether other humans are telling the truth.
  3. In the religious debate, the scholars were basing their arguments upon texts. Here, the archaeologists have nothing upon which to base their arguments. So there’s nothing to examine.
  4. Here, the curators are using the same evidence.
  5. CORRECT. The historians are talking about the same thing, but their evidence is different. To communicate, they will have to look at the evidence itself.

Your explanation is completely different from the book “The LSAT Trainer”, but I agree with yours only.
