LSAT 115 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q4

LSAT Preptest 115 explanations

RC Question 4 Explanation

DISCUSSION: You can eliminate the wrong answers by finding them in the passage. Ideally, you should do it for every wrong answer. Then you’ll be 100% certain. If you ever get this type of question wrong, try checking the wrong answers next time.

___________

  1. Actually, waste would be eliminated. Lines 29-31 support this.
  2. Line 44 mentions that designer offal reduces by-products. No waste means no by-products. By-products are usually things that people don’t want to produce, if they can avoid it.
  3. CORRECT. You can scour this passage 100 times, but you won’t find any mention of alternative energy sources. It’s a big omission, as energy is a major part of our industrial system.
  4. Optimized means: used in the best, most efficient way. If you produce no waste, then it means you’re using resources efficiently. Lines 22-24 state this directly.
  5. Lines 46-49 say that we would make use of every product of manufacturing. That would include waste.
