DISCUSSION: The correct answer must describe the whole passage. Truth is not enough.

  1. This doesn’t even mention Thurgood Marshall, who is the main focus of the passage.
  2. The article is about more than Marshall: it’s about what he accomplished. We’re not told much about his actual career progression (i.e. what his job titles, duties, and salaries were).
  3. CORRECT. The article is focussed on explaining the previous cases and philosophy that let Marshall win Brown v. Board of Education. 
  4. We’re not told a single thing about the impact of Brown. 
  5. This only describes the second paragraph. And this answer doesn’t even mention Marshall.
