LSAT 104 | Section 2 | Reading Comprehension: Q21

LSAT Preptest 104 explanations

RC Question 21 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The passage tells us quite a bit about Harris sparrows. The best thing to do is choose 1-2 answer choices that seem plausible, and try to confirm one of them using information from the passage.

___________

  1. Plumage doesn’t signal status for Harris sparrows.
  2. CORRECT. Adult Harris sparrows have higher status (lines 31-33), and high status birds have greater access to resources (lines 5-7).
  3. “Relatively dark” could mean 0.05% darker, which is nothing. The adult might still be darker.

(Plumage in Harris sparrows does weakly indicate status, by indicating adulthood, see lines 33-35)
  4. We’re never told how often Harris sparrows fight.
  5. Same as D.
