LSAT 102 | Section 1 | Reading Comprehension: Q24

LSAT Preptest 102 explanations

RC Question 24 Explanation

DISCUSSION: It’s important to eliminate the wrong answers by finding specific lines that support them. This shouldn’t take too long if you form a mental map of the passage.

___________

  1. Lines 36-41.
  2. Lines 4-6.
  3. Lines 27-33. A defining characteristic changes an entity, while an accompanying characteristic doesn’t.
  4. Lines 15-19.
  5. CORRECT. This is tricky. Organicists say that we shouldn’t separate the components of a system. The author says that organicists are wrong, and implies that it is a good idea to separate the components of a system for analysis.

But…the author never says why its a good idea to separate the components. They never mention any advantages.

For all we know, it’s impossible to study a system as a whole or separately.
