LSAT Preptest 101 explanations

RC Question 7 Explanation

DISCUSSION: The passage starts by talking about the Pico Union. But the main discussion is about the impact the Pico Union’s trip had on the Korean-American community.

___________

  1. We’re never told if the Pico Union succeeded. The  passage is about the effect the Pico Union’s quest had on the Korean-American community.
  2. First, we don’t know how the Pico Union story ended up changing the Korean-American community.

Second, the Pico Union didn’t come to contact the Korean community. They came to seek redress from their former employer. The Korean community felt motivated to help them, but it’s not clear how much personal contact they had with the union.
  3. The Pico Union didn’t emigrate. They just came on a trip, to fight for their rights.
  4. CORRECT. The Pico Union’s trip to Korea deeply affected the Korean-American community.
  5. Huh? The Pico Union weren’t Americans, of any generation. They were from Korea, and they were politicized because an American company denied them wages.
